Windows Phone Falling - Might As Well Detect This With Your App

Dropped phones are not that uncommon of a phenomenon. My idea was to find a way when this happens while a third-party application is running on Windows Phone. No phones were destroyed or damaged during the experiment.

While looking for similar projects, I stumbled across this PubMed entry. Apparently, Frank Sposaro of Florida State University created an Android application that detects when a user falls, and allows the app to work as an emergency alert mechanism. It seemed to be a pretty simple concept, so I decided to take on the challenge to design a similar mechanism for Windows Phone. You can watch my video, describing the simple implementation I quickly put together – consider it a working proof of concept.
